The Yankees are playing the Phillies for the 13,459th time this spring later on tonight, give or take. The regular game thread will be along in a bit, so here’s a round-up of the day’s news from Tampa…
- “I’m about ready to go,” said Nick Swisher (groin). “I didn’t feel it at all today … I feel pretty good.” He is not in tonight’s lineup, but he did play five innings in the field in a minor league game this afternoon. [Marc Carig, Erik Boland & Mark Feinsand]
- Here’s the rotation for the rest of camp: Michael Pineda (tonight), Adam Warren (Sat.), CC Sabathia (Sun.), Hiroki Kuroda & Phil Hughes (Mon.), Ivan Nova (Tues.), and Freddy Garcia & likely Michael Pineda (Weds.). Joe Girardi says they’ll have the final rotation decisions by Monday. [Feinsand, Feinsand, Feinsand & Carig]
- “I think I did a pretty good job to earn the spot,” said Garcia, who also reiterated that he’s willing to pitch out of the bullpen. [Erik Boland]
- Andy Pettitte is scheduled to throw a simulated game tomorrow while Ivan Nova, David Phelps, D.J. Mitchell, and Brad Meyers will throw side sessions. Hughes and Kuroda threw sides today. [Chad Jennings]
