River Dogs walk-off with win

I don’t know what the problem is, but LHP Nik Turley is currently on the 7-day DL. He finished last year on the shelf because he broke his hand reaching for a comebacker, but I doubt it’s related to that. Maybe it’s just a blister or something, he hasn’t pitched poorly or anything.

Update: Via Josh Norris, it’s exactly that. Turley is on the DL with a blister. Nice guess on my part.

Meanwhile, RHP Armando Galarraga is currently working out with the Yankees in Tampa and they may sign him soon. I think this is an indication that Ramon Ortiz or Nelson Figueroa is getting fed up with the Triple-A travel situation more than anything. We might see these Quad-A veteran guys shuffle in and out all season.

And finally, Ronnie Mustelier and Jose Ramirez were named the Double-A Eastern League Offensive Player of the Week and the High-A Florida State League Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Low-A Charleston (5-4 win over Delmarva, walk-off style) they faced RHP Dylan Bundy, the fourth overall pick in last year’s draft and who I believe is the best pitching prospect in baseball
CF Mason Williams: 1-3, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 SB, 1 CS– he reached base on a wild pitch after one of the strikeouts, then scored all the way from first on an error by the catcher when he was making a routine throw back to the pitcher … hooray Low-A!
SS Cito Culver: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 E (throwing) — back with the team after spending a few days away following a death in the family
C Gary Sanchez: 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K — doubled off Bundy, a 90 mph changeup up in the zone … left the game after attempting to steal second in the seventh
C Francisco Arcia: 0-0, 1 RBI, 1 E (pickoff) — replaced Sanchez and wound up with a walk-off sac fly
RF Tyler Austin & 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: both 0-4 — Austin whiffed once, Bichette thrice

Triple-A Empire State was rained out, which means Brett Gardner’s rehab assignment will have to wait one more day to begin. They’re going to play a doubleheader tomorrow. Meanwhile, Double-A Trenton had a regular ol’ scheduled day off.
